the constant gardener
after a scrumptuous lunch i had to unwind. so, i watched the constant gardener. it's directed by fernando meirelles, the same guy who mesmerised the world with his brilliant arty farty work as well as gritty storyline in 'city of god'.
an arty farty shot.
he did include lots of footage of the breathtaking african landscape. if i were him, i'd have done the same. it's just too beautiful to leave out. it's quite an irony, given that justin was walking to his deathbed.
cute african kids demonstrate the innocence and simplicity amid the complexity of the plot.
ralph fiennes and rachel weisz put in very convincing performances as justin and tessa. kudos to them. the characters set out to expose the lies of mulit-national pharmaceuticals and also demonstrated their undying love for each other. a bittersweet ending, but i would not have it any other way. every bit of this this movie is definitely oscar-worthy.
