congrats irene and bronson!
my cousin irene (mom's sister's daughter) had her wedding ceremony today and obviously i couldn't be left out. i was the car-door-boy: the young unmarried man who opens the groom's car door when he arrives at the bride's home. and bronson arrived in style, driven in a mercedes.
together, the bunch of us guys bargained and cajoled at irene's door. her sisters made it hard for us with the funny games and puzzles, but the ang bao part was the most interesting. he had to wrap them 3 times only due to time contraints (oh and he was generous too). i had a little look into what it would be like when i get married in future. hopefully i won't be fat and balding and marrying a vietnamese girl from an agency by then.
lunch at yishun safra imperial garden restaurant was good. check out the dish list:
- seafood fried rice
- braised mushroom with vegetables
- hainanese lamb stew
- fragrant butter prawn
- fried fish with teriyaki sauce
- roasted crispy duck
- breaded chicken fillet
- dough fritter with sotong paste
- mango pudding
for me, the highlights were the mushrooms (shitake, straw and button!) and prawns. my favs. i took on the noble responsibility of eating till there wasn't any more space in my tummy. however, the food seemed inexhaustible. the mountain of prawn shells was quite a sight too.
i had a great time. my tummy too. oh and did i mention that i got a big fat ang bao for my door-opening services? haha!
CONGRATS IRENE AND BRONSON!
