a little about wine

four glasses of wine were provided for the tastebuds. chardonnay was citric and light, shiraz was slightly heavier and had a nice taste of berries, while cabernet sauvignon was just thick and heavy.

i learnt the proper steps in wine-tasting: Sight, Smell, Taste (SST). you visually inspect your wine in a glass, then get a whiff of it, before taking it into your mouth to swirl it around and enjoy the full taste of it. if you're a professional wine connoisseur, you spit it out, because you'll be drunk in no time after all the glasses. if you're a casual drinker like me, of course you'll have to swallow - it's expensive!

wine rhymes with dine and it comes at no surprise that different wines go with different food. a general guide: white wine with white meat, red wine with red meat. you can take fish head curry with white wine. pasta goes fine with red i guess. and as far as pricing goes, there's almost no point in buying a less-than-$20 wine. the cheaper the price, the less of a wine it is. but to a novice like me, i won't be able to tell a $20 wine from a $50 one.

the lessons were valuable, interesting and very helpful. i really enjoyed myself. you can try asking me some stuff, and i might be able to enlighten you a little. but don't expect much. i only know the basic of the basics.
